“California’s agricultural fields—when observed from an aerial perspective—can reveal textures and patterns that are not readily apparent at ground level. My drawings and paintings are my interpretations and manipulations of those textures and patterns to create a representation of what can be seen in life. I use a careful compositional layout, a particular choice of colors, thickened paint and a selection of certain tools to create the final image.” – Richard Stein
